Customer Rating: Summary: Not as effective as larger model Comment: I bought this "compact" model to replace a dimensionally larger 12,000 btu Frigidaire unit 8 years old. Read the reviews and was confident it was as good as the earlier unit and would effectively cool our 650 sq' pool house. The older unit was about 5" wider and would cool down the building within 10-15 minutes. This newer one does not cool as well. Guess that next time I will spend the extra bucks for the larger and more costly 15,000 btu.
Customer Rating: Summary: Does the job, albeit noisily Comment: I bought these over a year ago, and am very happy with them. (I bought 2.)
Installed 1 on the upper floor and 1 on the main, and both do the job admirably well considering they're cooling off a *much* larger area than they're probably supposed to. For most of the summer, the one on the main floor does a fine job solo; for the hotter (above 90) days, both kept the house at least 10 degrees cooler than the outside, if not more than that. Considering I dislike weather hotter than 73 degrees, and these AC units kept me comfortable at home, the noise factor didn't bother me. I liken it to "white noise"; my kids were all able to sleep; so did my husband and I.
One mention: Sometimes (with the energy saver setting) at night, when it would kick back on, it could get annoying, depending on how well one was sleeping at the time. However, like I said, I hate hot weather, and love to be able to snuggle under blankets in the summer and be comfortable. To me, that was worth the noise.
Filters are uber-easy to clean. Installation was a typical pain in the butt, but I expected that with a window AC. We solved the problem by leaving them in all year round. LOL. (And yes, I'm purchasing some AC covers this year! -- It did get a mite drafty at times, but our curtains over the AC helped.)
I do recommend them for others, and would purchase them again if need be.
(I also love the remote control feature at night for changing settings, temperature, etc.)
Customer Rating: Summary: COLD Comment: Cools off our living room with no problem works great and alot of great features
Customer Rating: Summary: Cools well, too loud Comment: I wish I could have heard how loud my three new ac units were when I was purchasing them. I couldn't, so that is life.
This unit cools well, and keeps my large living room a nice place to be on a hot and humid day. It works well, is energy efficient, so I have most of what I wanted. I just wish I could tone down the white noise a little.
Customer Rating: Summary: very pleased Comment: The unit was installed just in time for the first heat wave of the season and performed very well, cooling a large open area consisting of a living room/dining room/foyer/kitchen. I use a fan to disperse cool air throughout the area. I have had no problems with this unit. The remote is easy to use and has several good options (sleep mode, timer, energy saver, etc).
