Editorial Reviews:

They came. They conquered. They looked fabulous. This wonderfully inventive visually stunning and incomparably funny Australian import about three drag performers braving the vast rugged outback won the 1994 Academy Award® for Costume Design. Veteran actor Terence Stamp (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) Hugo Weaving (The Matrix) Guy Pearce (L.A. Confidential) all give hilarious and heartfelt performances in a three-fishes-outta-water story that's "one of the wildest movies ever made" (Rex Reed New York Observer)! With a contract to perform a drag show way out in the Australian desert Tick (Weaving) Adam (Pearce) and Ralph (Stamp) each has his own reason for wanting to leave the safety of Sydney. Christening their battered pink tour bus "Priscilla" this wickedly funny and high-drama trio head for the Outback and into crazy adventures in even crazier outfits. You go girls!System Requirements:Running Time: 102 Mins.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: COMEDY Rating: R UPC: 027616077110 Manufacturer No: M107711

Summary: SHAKE YOUR GROOVE THANG.
Comment: I first saw Priscilla back in 1994 at the local "artsy" theater that played independent movies and rocky horror on Friday nights. I had been to drag shows before, but the queens I had been around were more of the Tina Turner/Cher/Divine type. Not impersonators, but really close. I had never seen Hugo or Guy before and of course recognized Terrance Stamp due to my obsession with the Superman movies as a child. Watching Priscilla, its colors so bright against the red Australian earth, was like opening a door to another world. I loved the costumes, the humor, the simple story line; it was a simple but powerful film that has stayed with me now for 14 years! I still quote this movie.

"Do you have the Texas Chainsaw Mascara?"

"what a nice dog, what's its name?"
"Herpes.....if she's good she'll heal"

"Is this an ABBA Turd?"

Comment: Here's how I saw the movie.

During the first 10 minutes of my very first time watching it I thought "Oh, lovely! A movie about a bunch of queers"! After another 20-30 minutes I thought "Well, they aren't doing anything too weird. This movie isn't too bad". The last part of the movie was "I hope these poor guys do alright. They aren't having much luck so far".

I've seen it like 15 times already and it's one of my favorite movies. It isn't about three drag queens (OK, two queens and a tranny) at all. It's about three interesting people trying to get across 1,000,000 miles of the Outback Desert. These guys are very likable and you really start to care about them.

Oh yeah, for those of you who don't care for guys dressing like women* there's one character who's a Hot Chick Stripper.

All in all a very good movie and the scenery is amazing!

* These guys are Good Bad and Ugly as women.
Guy - Good
Hugo - Bad
Terance - UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGLLLLLLLLY! Especially in the last musical number. Imagine Shemp Howard's twin sister.

Comment: The movie itself is a look into the lifestyle that some people lead. All the actors gave really good performances and I recommend it to anyone with a taste of something not of the norm.

Summary: Funny romp across Australia
Comment: It made me laugh and laugh. The lines are well delivered and sharp, witty. The costumes outrageous, but they add much to the storytelling. Good music, too.
