Minutes to Midnight stands to defend Linkin Park's status as the hardest-rockin' softies in mainstream music. Like its predecessors Hybrid Theory (2000) and Meteroa (2003), Minutes to Midnight flexes plenty of decibel-heavy muscle ("Given Up," "Bleed It Out," "No More Sorrow") and made-to-order, melodic radio fare ("Leave Out All the Rest," "Shadow of the Day," "In Pieces"). But for all its volume, Linkin Park likes to paint its heart openly on its sleeve with suspicious sonic drama, as in the palpably saccharine "Valentine's Day." Fortunately, co-producer Rick Rubin brings all these elements to pinnacle effect with the surprise "Hands Held High." On past efforts, the combination of breezy keyboard, arpeggiated guitar, choral vocals, and a military snare-beat would yield another slab of smarm, here MC Mike Shinoda drops the two best verses of his career, blending vocal styles with singer Chester Bennington for a moving piece that's as welcome a repertorial addition as Linkin Park is ever likely to muster. --Jason Kirk

Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Album - Nothing Wrong With It!!! Comment: Quite a number of people have been really pissy about this album. Especially because it sounds different from Linkin Park's previous albums. I've listened to this album numerous times and I personally think it turned out to be a really great album. I think it was cool that they stepped out and tried something different with their music (and Linkin Park isn't the only one who people have complained about changing how their music sounds). Because really, it would probably start to sound a little boring if they just did the same stuff over and over. So I think this album was great whether people think it sucks or not.
Customer Rating: Summary: Quick Comment: Received this product quickly and sooner than specified. The quality of the cd is in great shape. Thank you.
Customer Rating: Summary: THIS IS AWSOME!!!!!!!!! Comment: Wake - A good instrumental intro to the album.
Given Up - 10/10 Explicit, but the best song on the album.
Leave Out All the Rest - 8/10 Soft rock. But a good song.
Bleed it Out - 6/10 Explicit and retarded.
Shadow of the Day - 10/10 Second best on the album. Soft Rock.
What I've Done - 10/10 Third best on the album. AWSOME.
Hands Held High - 7/10 Explicit and retarded.
No More Sorrow - 9/10 Cool drum solo thoughout the song.
Valentine's Day - 9/10 NIce, quiet song to listen to when your bored.
In Between - 8/10 Mike actually sings (instead of rapping) in this one. Quiet.
In Pieces - 8/10 Quiet song. But good.
The Little Things Give You Away - 8/10 The softest of all of LP's songs.
Oh yeah, WHY IS EVERYONE SEEMING TO HATE THIS ALBUM! This is Lp's BEST album ever!!! Sure, some of them are quiet but that doesn't matter. I'm tired of all these WHINERS who can't appreciate a good album. So buy an iPod and buy the songs you want so you can stop these complaints. Get the songs and FEEL SPECIAL!
Customer Rating: Summary: Linkin Park turned gay Comment: This album might be a good piece of work (IMO it is not). But the problem is that it bears the Linkin Park brand. This is simply not Linkin Park even though it was made by the same people. If this was the first album to be released, they would not achieve the fame and popularity they have today. Do not touch this album at all.
Customer Rating: Summary: Linkin Park - Minutes To Midnight Comment: Well, it seems that this album has the been the target for bad reviews..listen to the other Linkin Park albums, too! Linkin Park is a band of six who are great musical taste, as well as genius. These guys should'nt be looked down on. These days, music itself has gotten worse and worse, and Linkin Park's Minutes To Midnight shows the the rest of the world that bands out there can still make music. Meteora, Hybrid Theory, Reanimation, and the rest of their music itself is amazing. This is just a slice a perfection..
1: Wake: A unique intro, which throws the listener into the next track. (10/10)
2: Given Up: One of my favorite tracks off the album. The punk feeling throughout the song is unbeatable. (10/10)
3: Leave Out All The Rest: This is my least favorite track on the album. The whole concept of the track itself I disliked from the start. All, in all, it is a pretty good track, though. (7/10)
4: Bleed It Out: Another punk/ party type song. A good song from start to finish. (9/10)
5: Shadow Of The Day: It has been said before, and I will say it again. With Or Without You- U2 All in all, a good track. (9/10)
6: What I've Done: My second favorite track off the album! This track, despite being overplayed, is a great one. (10/10)
7: Hands Held High: A song that I believe is about George W. Bush, and the War in Iraq. A nice song throughout. (10/10)
8: No More Sorrow: This song captures Linkin Park's energy perfectly! 'Nuff said. (10/10)
9: Valentine's Day: A more mellowed out LP track. (10/10)
10: In Between: Some Mike Shinoda vocal action! This track is not half-bad.. (8/10)
11: In Pieces: A softer, but still great track from Linkin Park. Some nice vocals and nice guitar parts from Chester and Brad. (10/10)
12: The Little Things Give You Away: An emotional song written about Hurricane Katrina. (10/10)
All in all, a GREAT album. You will not regret your buy!
