Summary: What were they thinking?
Comment: Rule obsoleted the Model 35 mercury switch and came out with a new Rule 35A mercury switch. The footprints are different. What were they thinking?
Not only are the footprints different, but the length is longer so they no longer fit in shower drain boxes they made just a few years ago.

Summary: Rule-A-Matic Switch
Comment: Installed this new bilge pump switch beside another mercury type float switch. Works great. Be careful not to lose the metal ring clip like I did when first installing or the switch will not work properly. May pop off when you take the float part off to put in the screws holding the base. Saw clip by accident by the pump, snapped it back into place and the switch now works fine. Original mercury switch got water intrusion from the wire leads. This switch has much better water protection. Can put a little liquid electrical tape around the wires to make sure no water gets to the switch.
