Customer Rating: Summary: Very happy with this printer Comment: If you just want your printing to be done really fast, save trees by printing on both sides of the paper, and not have to bother with constant cartidge replacement, this is it. I have two, one new, one refurbished. The refurbished one does make loud clicking noises, but it does not affect performance. The toner cartridge lasts a very long time -a year for me, with 100+ pages of daily printing. Costco shipped replacement cartridges for free, and they came with postage-paid recycling envelopes.
Best all-around, don't-have-to-think-about-it workhorse. This is a no-brainer, for the money.
Customer Rating: Summary: wonderful printer Comment: This printer works exactly as advertised, and (refurbished) is a great price. Setting it up on my home network was very easy: I just plugged it in, printed out a status page with network info and I was up and running.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great printer for home use Comment: I've had this printer for several months now and it works well. The printer replaced an aging HP LaserJet 2100. I use it on a home network and enjoy the instant access from all computers (both Macs and PCs). Quality, speed and duplex printing are terrific. Setup was a breeze on both PC and Mac. I downloaded the latest PC drivers from Brother's website.
I recently printed 200 A5 sized baby announcement cards and envelopes using the printer and they turned out great. There are two levers inside the rear door that can be flipped up when printing on thick paper and envelopes. Envelopes print with no problems when this change is made--something I just couldn't do without crinkling and bonding with the old HP.
The initial value is terrific and supplies are very competitively priced, although I haven't had to replace the toner or drum yet.
Customer Rating: Summary: Don't believe the delivery estimate Comment: I ordered one of these on April 11th. After missing the original 5 week delivery estimate, Amazon requested an extension with a new delivery estimate of June 20 - July 11th. Perhaps the fact I used a $50. coupon from a HD DVD purchase might have pushed me back in the queue. Amazon, Ive done lots of business with you, but you are really pissing me off with this one!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great printer, good service Comment: I purchased a Brother HL-5250DN Refurbished from another retailer. When it arrived, the instructions were straightforward and it was easy to setup plugged into my router for wireless access. The printer is FAST to the first page, prints quickly, and the duplexing function is outstanding.
The only problem I had is that from the first page printed, there was a small toner blob about every 4" on every page. I contacted Brother's customer support who gave me a list of things to try. I was able to see on the drum unit a small spot on the drum that matched the toner blob I was getting, and so I contacted Brother again since the problem persisted. Brother quickly sent out a new replacement drum since the refurbished unit is covered under the same warranty as a new unit (1 year; 90 days for consumables like drum and toner).
This is a great printer, and their service was excellent -- friendly and helpful customer support reps who knew what they were doing. I do get some very slight curling on pages using standard 20lb paper, but haven't tried a 24lb paper to see if this corrects the problem yet. This is not a big deal and I'm very happy with the purchase.
