Anthem/Atlantic recording group Rush return with its first new collection of original material in nearly five years, entitled "SNAKES & ARROWS." The album was recorded in the fall of 2006 with Gammy Award-winner Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, Velvet Revolver) and Rush co-producing. "It's hard to describe," Geddy Lee recently told Revolver re: "SNAKES & ARROWS.""It's big, it's bold, and I think it's some of the best work we've done in years. I'm really pleased with the quality ofthe songs, and there's lots of playing on it. " Rush - Lee, Alex Lifeson, and Neil Peart - will trumpet the release of "SNAKES & ARROWS" with a full-scale North American tour, the renowned trio's first since 2004's "An Evening with Rush: 30th Anniversary Tour."

Customer Rating: Summary: Shows how a great band matures with style Comment: I think this album gives a fine example of a great band with 30 years together can still create some great musical ideas. Alex's guitar playing shows a restrained maturity, and the emphasis on accoustic guitar really complements the album. I really liked Malignant Narcissism, as it builds a unique groove, and Alex's work on "Hope" which is really a standout on the album. Geddy seems to have found a new voice which is less shrill and surprisingly powerful. Niel's drum work is, of course, flawless throughout-- refined, tight and perfect. Lyrically, sometimes Neil strays a little too far into the "what is it all about" territory, but in general, a lot of emotion comes through in the material.
Customer Rating: Summary: amazing, but remember Comment: its frick n great, and amazing these guy have been play n so ong n through so much and havnt lost a bit of what they have always had, so this album is just more of what we love, damn their good, just remember this is a dvd, not a cd, but its not a video, its a dvd so you can listen to it in 5.1, if you dont have that but the cd, if you do you may want to buy both, unless your car has a dvd player, injoy mates!
Customer Rating: Summary: RUSH is the greatest music group ever in world history Comment: I'm writing this review of Snakes and Arrows by RUSH on Neil Peart the drummer's 56th birthday September 12th - happy birthday Mr. Peart sir! I am 37 and for the most part heard the drum fills for Tom Sawyer when I was 10 years old so I've been their biggest fan for 27 years or more. My name is Ian Mitnick in Baltimore Maryland. If Neil knew me he'd want me to say happy -56th bithday (he's getting younger!!) "Far Cry" is excellent and my 4 year old drummer nephew loves it and I've been a drummer since 2 years old starting with Gene Krupa. Every song is great on Snakes and Arrows! "Armor and Sword" is powerful with that eerie dissonance "no one gets to their heaven without a fight" - Workin them angels uses words Neil put in one of his books - its great - "The larger Bowl" is pretty and honest about money and such - I really like "Spindrift" about love and feelings - Neil is the best rock drummer in the world, Geddy is the rock bassist in the world, Alex Lifeson is so special and underated as the best rock guitarist - RUSH is the greatest. "Good news first", Alex's gorgeous "Hope", I could go on and on - you ARE missing out if you don't get into RUSH and buy their Thanksgiving 2008 live concert DVD!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Their best in over 20 years! Comment: Five years after the decent, yet sonic catastrophe that was Vapor Trails, Rush returns with this masterpiece, their first since Power Windows, back in 1985. With repeated listenings, this album will open up to you - like a blooming rose.
Customer Rating: Summary: Vapour Trails is a much better album Comment: I don't understand all the hype and all the praise over "Snakes & Arrows"... IMO "Vapour Trails" is waaaay better... there's nothing here (on S&A) as strong as "One Little Victory" or "Earthshine" (to name just two)
