It's made of a durable food-grade plastic with mesh holes big enough to drain well but small enough to hold in tiny seeds such as alfalfa! Order more than one and rotate your crops every 3-4 days to make sure that you always have a steady supply of your favorite sprouts.

Comment: I've recently started sprouting and this lid is quite wonderful for that purpose. It is rugged and easy to clean. I would highly recommend it.

Comment: This mesh jar lid fits on a wide-mouth canning jar and works perfectly for growing sprouts. I've used cheesecloth in the past, which also works, but this is more straight-forward and does the job well without requiring that I wash the cheesecloth fabric. This is a very good and easy solution.
