As the title of this CD demonstrates, Musiq Soulchild is no fan of wasted space: Luvanmusiq is a brief disc, but its breezy neo-soul grooves and elegant slow jams stack up so tightly it's a wonder you don't hear squeaks as the disc moves from song to song. First track "B.U.D.D.Y.," which borrows from Ini Kamoze's "Here Comes the Hot Stepper" (which borrowed from Taana Gardner's "Heartbeat" before it), thumps along with the kind of out-there spirit that'll make you wish for a return to Maxwell's urban hang suite, circa 1996; "Ms. Philadelphia," co-written by Ne-Yo, sets the mood for cocktail-sipping urban sophisticates; and "Betterman" starts with a Justin Timberlake-reminiscent beat but settles into its own warm bath of sincerity. Soulchild's songs play like personal letters--you want to open them alone, then share the best ones with best friends. Notably, that's the way you feel after hearing any of Soulchild's discs--Luvanmusiq is only the latest evidence that the man is comfortable in his R&B- and soul-saturated skin. --Tammy La Gorce

Customer Rating: Summary: Luv Luvanmusiq! Comment: What can I say is that I luv luvanmusiq! The sound is fresh and original. I love the beats; especially in the selections on b.u.d.d.y and Teach Me. Luvanmusiq has a hip-hop/rap sound, but more mature that adults can really get into. I'm glad I purchased this CD.
Customer Rating: Summary: Another classic Musiq Soulchild album Comment: The first time I listened to this album, I thought Musiq lost his touch that was shown on his 3 prior albums. I took another listen to it and grew to like it more. Its a really good album. Musiq has really changed the game of R&B. I know D'Angelo came before him, another classic artist, but Musiq brought his own style to the game. I can't really say which are my favorite songs because I like all of them.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great CD!!!! Comment: Musiq is back and better than ever! I was reluctant to buy this CD because although I still have aijuswanaseing and juslisen in HEAVY rotation on my iPod, I was sorely disappointed with soulstar. I finally bought luvanmusiq after receiving a gift certificate. Let me tell you, I made a wise choice. You can really hear his maturity as a man and as a musician in this CD. Each track flows effortlessly into the next. Each track allows us to witness his maturity from pining after the Girl Next Door on aijuswanaseing to really reflecting on what it takes to become a Better Man on luvanmusiq.
Since I waited more than a year to buy this CD, hopefully his next release is coming up soon so I won't have a long wait.
Customer Rating: Summary: Love it! Love it! Love it! Comment: I guess my title says it all. I really think Musiq did it this time. I have all 4 of his CDs and this one is right up there with his debut for me. On Luvanmusiq, I found that I enjoy the entire CD except for "thequestions" which is just a lil boring/sappy for my taste (sorry, lol).
Anyway, on to what I love about this CD. Great Ballads! And really great uptempo grooves! It's really hard for me to pick favorites on this CD. I definitely think that as great as it starts off, it gets even better towards the end from Millionaire on...wow. I really hope he can follow this one up with something just as great.
Fave tracks:
Greatest Love
Millionaire
Teach Me
Today (I guess at some point you gotta do a "wedding song" huh? lol)
Take You There - Ooh wee! I'll GO!!!
Better Man
Definitely pick this CD up.
Happy Listening!
Customer Rating: Summary: Another great album by Musiq Comment: I have all of Musiq's albums, so I'm a true fan. This one is like the others--soulful, beautiful, and touching. My favorite is "TakeYouThere". I can listen to it over and over. The lyrics on his songs are always so endearing and deep. I just want to interview the man and learn what his love life has been like. He sings, and I feel his soul. Great album.
