Out of the financial miseries of the 1930's, rose an improbable hero -- Seabiscuit, an under-sized, crooked-legged, muddy-colored horse. From 1936-1940, this relative underdog established himself as one of history's most extraordinary athletes and routinely smashed attendance records anytime he made an appearance. Seabiscuit's most famous match by far was the 1938 Pimlico Special against his eastern rival and Triple Crown winner, War Admiral, a contest still regarded as one of the greatest horse races ever run.
