Summary: This is how it works
Comment: The Eva-Mist humidifier arrived in a timely fashion and as advertised. I wanted to use this to humidify a medium sized green house, but only during certain hours of the day. I setup up a timer that controlled the power to this unit only to discover that once the electronics have powered down, the unit is reset and will not automatically turn back on when power is restored. Something you might want to know if you are looking to use this in an unconventional application. Otherwise it works fine and keeps the room regulated to the value I have set. When selecting the correct unit for your needs keep in mind, The dryer your climate the more it will be used thus, you will want a model with a larger water storage container.

Summary: Mine grew mold
Comment: I have owned this for 4 months. First, mine also came with the filter in pieces and the filters are only sold on one website I could find. I do not use mine every night because I live where the humidity varies greatly, but I took it up to the mountains for five days. I changed the water each day, but the base of the unit grew mold which I cannot completely remove. I washed all the pieces, except the base, in the dishwasher but the base contains the electrical components. Now I am afraid to use it. Any suggestions? I used my old humidifier for years and never once had a mold problem. Also, the Eva-mist puts out a fine white dust, which my old unit did not (same water).

Comment: This is the second one of these I am purchasing this month because it works so well, my son and newly pregnant daughter-in-law guilted me into giving mine to them . . . for the sake of the grandchild - haha. Anyway, it is fast, silent, and (unlike other reviewer) I like that it beeps when it runs out of water. It takes more than 12 hours of straight running for it to beep, so if beeping bothers you refill at 10 hours when it gets close to empty. I think 12 hours is a long time for a portable humidifier with a Humidistat.

Filter opens up during shipping and no mension or pics of media in directions. Tech support is weak for this product.

Summary: Received defective unit
Comment: The humidifier arrived quickly and well packaged, however the unit was defective. It would not start up. Sometimes it would just screech - which I think is the alarm that it is out of water, though it had water in it. Nothing ever appeared on the blue LCD screen except for some garbled gibberish at times.
Sad to say, but back it goes! Don't think going to try another...
update on packets: I emailed their support in regards to the 2 packets of stuff (they were loose for me as well). They said that they are suppose to be inside of the filter and must have become loose during shipment.
