Customer Rating: Summary: One button countdown timer is the best! Comment: It doesn't have the prettiest face (or band),and I've tried using a "nicer" watch at least for dressier occasions, but after a 14 year addiction to these watches I usually forgo fashion for function!
Advantages:
1)Countdown timer is set by pushing only one button! By pressing the button on the top right side of the watch once you set the timer for 1 minute. Press twice for 3 min . . . 5, 10, 15, 20, and 30. If you use timers, imagine how convenient it is to always have one on hand.
2)Water Resistant - I've worn my watch swimming, washing dishes, etc. with no problem.
3) Alarm - It's not overly loud, but it's perfect for my morning alarm. (And, I can use the Countdown timer for a snooze)
4)Price - less than $20.
Disadvantages:
1) Plastic Band - the band only lasts me about 2 years of hard use. I haven't been able to replace the band.
2) Battery - also lasts about 2 years and has been difficult to replace.
3) No backlight - So you can't check the time in movies or other dark places.
Customer Rating: Summary: Best little watch there is Comment: This watch is a lifesaver for forgetful people like me. I set the countdown timer for stove, oven, washing machine, repeat phone calls, power naps and to time "wait" periods for grandchildren, to signal cleanup time for my pre-school Sunday School class.
Perhaps its most unique use is that I can use it for a morning alarm without waking my husband, who has a high frequency hearing loss in the ear turned toward my side of the bed.
I never have to remember an alarm clock when we travel, as its on my arm.
I hope Casio never quits making this watch!!
Customer Rating: Summary: joang Comment: I have been buying this watch for many years. Being water resistant is the most important feature to me. It has lasted through horse stall mucking, drinking tub cleaning and, believe it or not, throught several hours of SCUBA diving. I would not recommend it for SCUBA as it is only water resistant, but it held up at 90 feet under water much to my surprise (and probably good luck).
I love the countdown feature. It keeps me on time to business meetings and reminds me to check on my cooking.
It's not terribly attractive, but so much better than the large bulky sports watches and perfect for a woman's small wrist. I'm thinking of trying the watch with the metal band as it looks a little nicer. Sure hope it holds up as well!
Customer Rating: Summary: Cooks will also love this countdown timer! Comment: This watch is great for cooks, walkers, keeping house, shopping with my husband and being ready on time. The timer feature can simply not be found on any other watch. (Another reviewer mentioned Timex, but I haven't been able to find it.)
At first I was bummed that I couldn't light up the dial. After a while I realized there were clocks all around me -- I was just in the habit of punching a button on my watch! I could check the nightstand, for Pete's sake!
The countdown timer, explained by "Lamby" in another review, is the reason I buy this watch. In 3 or 5 minutes, my tea is steeped, my skillet is preheated, etc. My oven takes 15 minutes to preheat. Cookies need to be checked on after 10 minutes. And I can wander around the house with my timer right on my wrist. And the "beeping" is definitely less jarring to my household than the typical kitchen timer!!
How about those exercise routines where we jog (walk fast) this many minutes, walk this many minutes, back to jogging so many minutes, cool down this many minutes. INSANE routine without this watch!!!!
It's annoying to keep looking at a clock/watch while I'm getting ready in the morning. After my shower, I can quickly set this watch and leave myself 10 minutes to "wrap it up." (Where did I put my car keys?? Do I have everything I need to take with me??)
Finally, I hate housework, but I can get a lot done in 15 minutes. I can quickly set my watch and then get something done in any room I want: cleaning up the bathroom, mopping a floor, vacuuming, straightening up the living room. (A couple of times a day, the place looks decent all the time and the once-a-week "clean up the house" routine doesn't take hours!!)
My husband and I don't like to look for the same things in a department store. We split and meet up again in "predetermined minutes". 45 minutes? Set for 30, then set again for 15.
Really wish they would make this product with a metallic band. I've seen it in silver (for about 10 dollars more, which is fine) but would like a gold-tone for summer time wear. Years back, I could get this watch in white, but the dial and the band would fade to different shades. May be why I can't find it.
This watch was available about 10 years ago, and then for a few years we (sisters, mother, girlfriend) couldn't find them. It was a bummer, because that model would eventually just QUIT after a few years. Not even new batteries would revive it. A Casio dealer said that was why they weren't carrying them anymore. Now they are back!
If they have fixed the problem, great! If they haven't, even 2-3 years wear for a $11 watch with this countdown timer feature is a great deal!!
Customer Rating: Summary: One touch countdown timer Comment: I have continued to buy this particular watch for it's countdown feature and have owned at least 10 in the last 20 years, and have purchased it for gifts. I bought a Timex once with this feature but the setting was not as easy as this one touch. I use the countdown on a daily basis as a reminder for many things. I would truly be at a loss if Casio quit making this particular watch. The price at under $24.95 has always made this watch an outstanding value.
