Customer Rating: Summary: Pirated Software Comment: I bought this software expecting to install it with no problem on my MacBook like others here have claimed. The package didn't include the Certificate of Authenticity (COA), so I called the retailer... they told me to contact Microsoft. So, Ted at Microsoft tells me that this is pirated software since it only costs $89. So, either Microsoft is completely nuts (probably true) or this software that Amazon and others are trying to sell is illegal.
Customer Rating: Summary: It's Windows XP SP2 - Any Questions? Comment: Ok, like the title says; It's Windows XP SP2. So what don't we all know about it by this point in time?
Personally I prefer to use my Macs over my PC, but this purchase was for my dad so he could still use Quicken 2008 and Family Tree Maker on his new iMac. Neither of those programs are well represented on the Mac, so Dad prefers to use Parallels running Windows XP to use the versions from his newly retired Windows notebook. It's a workable but clumsy solution until better Mac versions become available.
There nothing new to say about Windows XP SP2 that isn't common knowledge now. It is less expensive to use for running VMs like Parallels because of Microsoft's greedy licensing of Vista that requires purchasing Vista Ultimate, the most expensive version of Vista ($219.99), to be permitted run Vista in a VM. I think that is shameless price gouging on Microsoft's part.
Customer Rating: Summary: Serves its purpose for a Mac user Comment: Very easy to install on my Macbook through VMWare Fusion. No difficulties whatsoever. Still greatly prefer Leopard over XP, however my workplace has some applications that only function through the Windows. Combined with VMware Fusion I have no difficulties using files in whichever OS is needed.
Customer Rating: Summary: XP - What you think it is Comment: This version of XP is cheaper than your typical version you find in the store or online - not sure why, but I saw someone refer to it when I was contemplating running Parallels on my MacBook. Works, well, like what you would expect. It did the job.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works good for use in parallels for IMac. Comment: Used this on my IMac works great. I did have an issue getting the internet to run through windows using parallel program. Using information on the web got this issue resolved. Problem was setting up the parellel program not in this software.
