This set is based on our famous Marshall design and is a VERY accurate reproduction. The look of this heavily weighted set has been strongly influenced by those manufactured by Jaques of London Chessmen from the early 1900s.
This full-tournament sized set features a 3.75" King, weighs an incredible 52 ounces and includes 4 Queens (the additional 2 Queens are not included in the weight calculation.) The design and feel of these Chessmen make them ideal for both Tournament and Rapid Play (Blitz) Chess. The design, quality and craftsmanship of this set is UNMATCHED by any set of Chessmen in its price range. Nothing even comes close! These Chessmen are new and each set consists of 34 Chessmen, 17 light and 17 dark (including the two additional Queens.)
The set was named after the legendary US Chess Player Frank Marshall, who was the United States Chess Champion from 1909-1936, a reign of 27 years that is unlikely to be equaled. Frank was one of the original Chess Grandmasters, a title that was granted by Russian Tsar Nicholas II in 1914.
