Editorial Reviews:

Your child can pedal to help you along, or just coast and enjoy the scenery. Either way it's fun for both of you. Sturdy construction - just like a regular 20" bicycle with regular handlebars, seat and pedals. Attaches easily and quickly to almost any bicycle with a seatpost, and folds up for storage when not in use. And it even comes with a safety flag to alert motorists. The Co-Pilot is great for the whole family, nothing says togetherness like a family bike ride!

Features quick release system for fast and easy attach/detach. Co-pilot can either pedal or coast. Fully adjustable handlebar with safety pad and front splashguard. 20" Alloy rear wheel, safety flag. Weight capacity 100 lbs. Measures 67"H x 22"W x 34"D.

Summary: Some quality issues
Comment: Overall still an acceptable deal for the money for us, but some problems that could be a bigger problem for the less mechanically-inclined:
Two of the bolt holes on the mounting bracket were partly chromed over so that one bolt head was already stripped by the factory putting it in a little bit and another that wouldn't go in any further. Smaller diameter replacement bolts with separate nuts solved the problem. The bottom bracket is not quite right. From the factory it didn't turn easily or smoothly. Loosening it up helped a lot bit it took some effort to get it right. The pedals are cheap and do not turn as freely as I would like. Some of the other bolts are very difficult to adjust or turn at all. The unit is functioning well but it is not a high quality piece of equipment by any measure.

Summary: What a great product....we love it.
Comment: My 6 year old daughter wouldn't ride her bike with training wheels at all. I was a little frustrated with her not wanting to ride her bike. I tried telling her how much fun bike riding is but she had it in her mind that she was going to fall and hurt herself. I then ordered this product and attached it to my bike. She was hesitant but got on the bike and we were on our way. She loves riding bikes now. I like this trailer bike because it still gives her the motion of riding a bike....she has to learn to balance it because there's a little wiggle to her bike. It does take some getting use to for the person pulling the trailer bike but it's nothing an adult can't handle. We ride to the lake every weekend now and explore the dirt trails and we haven't had any issues with the trailer. It's easy to attach and setup on the adult bike. It's also easy to adjust the handlebars and seat on the trailer bike. The concerns I think that people are having is that the trailer bike does have some play to it but I think that is a feature to help the child try and learn to balance themselves. I don't see it as a safety issue as the play is not enough to cause the child to fall. Overall, this is a great product and we will continue to use it and hopefully by spring my girl will be ready to tackle riding the bike by herself!

Summary: WeeRide Co-Pilot Bike Trailer
Comment: Our daughter absolutely loves her "new bike". She is too big for the bike seat and just not ready to master riding w/o training wheels.

The quality is less to be desired. The chain rubs against the guard and everyone hears us coming when she is peddling. Whenever we turn, my bike seat turns with us.....kind of annoying but a small price to pay considering that we can once again enjoy family bike rides together.

Summary: What a Piece of Junk
Comment: This bike trailer is the worst piece of junk I have ever tried to make work -- and I have 3 kids so I have seen lots of pieces of junk. This one takes the prize for the worst design and worst implementation. Rating this as a 1 star is really doing a disservice to 1 star merchandise but 0 stars is apparently not an option.

I was disappointed to find rust spots all over the handlebars when I unpacked the item but figured it was not a big deal -- just a cosmetic flaw.

I was further disappointed that the trailer needs not 1, not 2, but 3 different sizes of hex wrenches to assemble (why??!!). And, of course, no tools are included in the package. But I have a set of hex wrenches so no big deal.

I was still further disappointed to find that the mounting bracket that attaches the trailer to the bicycle could not be removed from the trailer. This means that once the trailer is attached to the bike, it's not coming off (unless you want to remove the four bolts to take it off). But I thought it unlikely that my wife would be riding without our youngest child. So no big deal.

The final straw was when I discovered that the up/down hinge would not move at all. This makes the trailer completely unusable as it lifts the back tire of the bike off the ground. I tried to loosen the hinge bolt but it had been tightened WAY too tight. I ended up stripping the bolt on both sides trying to loosen the thing.

I disassembled this piece of junk, put it back in the box, and am sending it back.

Do yourself a favor -- do NOT order this garbage. There has to be a better model out there.

Summary: Lots of room for Quality Improvements!
Comment: During assembly of this bike trailer, it was clear that there was room for quality improvements:

- four screws and bolts to attach it to the main bike instead of a quick release requires 5 to 10 minutes and you better carry the necessary tools on your ride.
- Precision was lacking: the seat post could not slide into the frame even when enormous pressure was applied; the hinge that allows folding the trailer for easy transportation and storage is poorly constructed.

I did not bother taking this trailer out for a ride, returned it instead and lost a few dollars in shipping cost. At REI we found a bike trailer - Novara Afterburner - with everything the Weeride is missing. Check out the Novara Afterburner at an REI near you; your kid(s) will thank you.
