Customer Rating: Summary: It was a big hit! Comment: We ordered this just in time for a surprise birthday party, which featured several fondues. It was a hit! Everyone loved it. We kept it running for the entire time, well over five hours, and it kept the chocolate hot and at the right consistency. Of course, we had to add more chocolate as the night went on.
We will definitely use this a lot. Great product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Disappointing Flow but Fun Nevertheless Comment: 1st one didn't work....no functional motor
2nd one...even after melting good quality chocolate and mixing the oil as recommended the appearance of the "flow" of the fountain left a lot to be desired. I added more oil, a little at a time while mixing and it finally began to come out over the top but seemed to plop rather than flow and did not give the "fountain" effect. only the edges of the levels were covered in chocolate....leaving the black plastic to show. It almost seemed like the chocolate cooled off too much from the base to the top and needed to have the other parts heated as well....
Also, you need to know to allow MUCH MORE TIME to get the fountain going. Allow an hour...not the 10-15 minutes in the directions.
This is a slightly noisy product, and did not have the pretty fountain appearance of flowing chocolate but we still had a ball with the novelty of the whole thing. As a self described "party perfectionist" I was disappointed in the way this looked.
Since most of the reviews are glowing...you should also know these things before you decide to buy....love the chocolate though!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Product!!! Comment: My 6yo daughter wanted a fountain for her birthday party. I researched different products and found this one was the best for the money. I used simi-sweet chocolate chips and it worked perfectly. The kids dipped marshmellows, strawberries, bananas, pretzels and animal cookies. The adults found this a hit more then the kids did. The set up and clean up was eazy, the motor is not noisy and the flow of the chocolate worked the way it was supposed to once I got it leveled. I am so glad I bought this product.
Customer Rating: Summary: Use Chocoley chocolate in your fountain Comment: I also love my fountain and have used it mostly for holiday gatherings over the last few years. I have discovered that using chocolate sold by Chocoley is the best way to keep the chocolate flowing smoothly. [...] It melts easily and flows well with the fountain's auger-style pump. It's slower to harden as well, which helps with the clean-up after all the guests have gone. We have really enjoyed our Rival fountain.
Customer Rating: Summary: New Year's Eve tradition Comment: My husband bought this for me for Christmas a few years ago after I commented on one at an event at a local banquet center. It has been a staple of our New Year's Eve parties since. I love how easy this chocolate fountain is to assemble and use. Even though I only use it a couple of times a year it takes less than two minutes to put together. The instructions include ratios for chocolate to oil and recipes for some things to dip (like shortbread cookies). I have a double boiler which makes melting the chocolate mixture and adding it to the preheated fountain super easy. I use milk chocolate morsels and everyone comments on how the fountain looks and the chocolate tastes. It is a nice touch that the forks have different colored ends to tell them apart and 8 is plenty. Cleanup is easy too, there is rarely much left!
