Summary: Fantastic mouse!
Comment: Very expensive for a mouse, but well worth it. I have small hands, and it is one of the most comfortable mice I have used. The absolute best and most frequently used features of this mouse are the back and forward buttons and the scroll wheel. You will have to customize the scrolling options to suit your preferences, but I love the two different types of scrolling. The battery lasts a long time and the charging station is very cool.

Summary: Unreliable parts, works on Linux
Comment: I have this mouse for like 8 months now, and it's worked ok except for two annoyances.

First, you have to fiddle with its position on the cradle so it begins to charge. When I first got it, more than once I left it to charge overnight only to find the next day that it didn't charge at all. So now I always have to make sure the mouse is properly seated and charging. This is oh so annoying.

On the plus side, after all these months, the battery still lasts a long time, like a week or so. And I never turn it off, so that is impressive.

Now, for the past couple of months, the left button has started to act funny, and now, often when I click it, it performs a double-click. Extremely annoying.

You must know I'm not a heavy mouse user, as I use the keyboard a lot, so this issue is surprising.

The only reason I'm going to purchase another of these is that I just love the free-scroll wheel.

Oh, and it works great on Linux. Using btnx you can configure all of its features.

If this mouse was better built it would get 5 stars. Note that it doesn't feel cheap at all, I just say this because of the issues I mention above.

Summary: best used as a professional tool, simply outstanding
Comment: No one on here seems to truly understand WHY this mouse is worth every penny. It's not the fancy scrolling, it's not the alt-tabbing thumb wheel, and it's certainly not the auto search option. Quite simply it is the fact that this mouse has more buttons than any other on the market as far as I know of, and they are all easily changed to perform any task you want. Let me run it down the line:

Before I bought this mouse I had used a Microsoft 5-button Intellimouse for years. I loved it and never wanted to change to another mouse. However, this mouse was irresistible for one reason: 11 customizable buttons. ELEVEN BUTTONS! (left click, right click, wheel button left, wheel button middle, wheel button right, search button, back button, forward button, thumb wheel forward, thumb wheel in, thumb wheel back).

These 11 buttons are customizable for any and all of your programs! (For example you could easily set the search button to perform copy in notepad, paste in mspaint, and search in internet explorer). It's perfect for designers, as you can customize mouse click shortcuts for common commands.

The SetPoint software that comes with it is easy to navigate so that you can customize the 11 buttons you have at your disposal to perform clicks, keystrokes, or hotkeys (IE ctrl+c, atl+tab, etc). Please note that there is an "uber-options" third party software available that is better, but if you don't want to get it, it's not a necessity.

I have had no range or battery issues. I use it heavily 8 hours a day at work and 1-2 hours at home, roughly 4 feet away from the USB dongle. It never lags and I charge it once a week.

I disagree with just about all the cons that I see others have had. The battery life is fine, the range is great, I have not once had the cursor skip or lag (and I've used it with games), the software is good, I don't "accidentally" hit buttons, AND it works on my XP workstation and my Vista laptop.

The ONLY complaint I have is that the thumb wheel could have a bit more "sandpaper" grip to it. I have my thumbwheel programmed to toggle ortho, move, and create polygon for AutoCAD, so I use it a lot and it gets slippery.

Other Thoughts: Combined with autohotkey (a freeware hotkey script creator) and to some degree the uber options SetPoint replacement software, this mouse is absolutely indispensable at work if you are a power user who wants to optimize your work time. If you work at a computer 40hrs a week, I'm sure you can come up with at least 5 repetitive keyboard tasks you perform. With this mouse (and an autohotkey script) you could simplify those 5 text strings into button clicks, plus have room for 4 more. (That's a total of 9 programmable strings per program - I'm not counting right and left click).

This mouse is a HUGE potential upgrade for your workstation. Don't doubt it, add it to your cart.

Summary: Very comfortable - no horizontal scroll wheel
Comment: I bought this mouse because I thought the side wheel could be configured for horizontal scrolling. I was very disappointed when I discovered it wasn't really a wheel but a button. I do a lot of work with spreadsheets and the sideways motion of the top wheel does not work as well as my previous 2 wheel mouse. The other thing I noticed is when the top wheel is put into non-click mode it tends to pop back into click mode.

On the plus side the mouse is very comfortable and works well on my mouse pad. Lots of features and the docking station is a nice plus.

If I had known the mouse didn't have a horizontal wheel I probably would have just purchased the MX600 which is also a very nice mouse at half the price.

Summary: Spactacular Human Interface Device!
Comment: Seems like there is a few negative views on quality for the MX Revolution. I hoped that wasn't true when I bought it. I've used it at work day in and out for 6 months and it works as good as new. The interface features are superb! The programmable button features per application allows just about every keyboard operation to be done while mousing. If you have ever been stuck with repetitive mouse to keyboard gyrations, it's such a smart relief with the Revolution! Prior to this mouse I was aggrevated that Logitech would not bring out a new version of the Trackman Marble FX. The ergonomics of a heavy track ball were unbeatable, so I thought. But The revolution's scroll wheel employs needle bearings which provide the gliding scroll action like a heavy track ball. But the other buttons of the mouse, unlike the trackball, make this a fantastic upgrade from my expectations. And the quality, contrary to other posts here, are typical Logitech high grade.
