The metal around the outside is rounded and feels nice to touch. The glass is tempered and was protected well for the shipping. The assembly took some time but nothing complicated. Overall the table is very heavy and sturdy and can not be moved by pushing against it which. If you need a table that you want to move around a lot, this is not for you. In comparison to other patio sets, this table was well worth it. Make sure to get a 9' umbrella to go with it. I got a 45 lb. umbrella base that works well with it. This table is not perfect; there are gaps around the edge where the metal design meets the edge of the table, but it's not too bad - I can live with it. Comment: this table is very sturdy. glass is clear, not tempered. need windex on a regular basis. i like the trim because i don't have the elbow prints on the outside ring of a full glass table. the table and chair come with adjustable "pegs" on the legs to adjust if your concrete is uneven, like mine. i love the matching chairs because they sit up straight and tall. on my other patio sets, you sink down into the chairs, having to "scoot" up to eat at the table. exceptional back support. for the price, i was totally amazed at the quality and would recommend this set, rather than paying double for other sets. the color is more of a charcoal. comes with a little bottle of touch-up paint also. the chairs need nothing out of the box. the table assembly consists of putting the legs on and the umbrella ring. took very little time. would highly recommend.
