Editorial Reviews:

The Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer features all of the necessities that other competitive presenters offer. This presenter has the ability to page up, page down, esc slide show, darken screen and resume screen. It also has a laser pointer button and an on/off switch. It also includes an alt tab application switch. The long-range 2.4GHz wireless technology has up to a 30 ft. range, which is ideal for a large conference room. The preset RF connection enables true plug-and-play capability; no driver is required. Stop tripping over wires and asking colleges to change the slides- this presenter is ideal for any PowerPoint presentation.

Summary: Good, Solid, and Simple Presentation Remote
Comment: This presentation remote is all about simplicity which is needed, normally, by people talking in front of a group people. The remote is small enough to not look like your holding a brick and not to distracting to your audience during your presentation, and big enough to make it easy to hold on to.

Another nice thing is the ease of installation of the remote. I take it to all my presentations, plug it in, and we are ready to go. As I said before, this thing is all about simplicity. Another nice touch is what I call the focus button, which turns the screen black, to gain the attention of your audience, in parts that are important for the audience to listen.

This is a great presentation remote for users that want something simple and not flashy. The buttons are big enough for easy use, making it nice during tense presentations.

Summary: Good clicker
Comment: I'm pretty happy with this thing. I don't have battery problems (I turn it off) I use it for about 6 hours a day for the last 3 weeks have not had to change batteries so far. I can manage a power point, PDF navigation. Just wish it could do more actions.

Summary: Value for the money.
Comment: This is my second one. I broke the first by dropping it several times. It works great right out of the package. The only thing now with the second one is the battery keeps coming loose in the unit causing me not to have control mid-presentation. I have to open the unit and gently push the battery back in place. It is a nice product for the money, but you get what you pay for. If this one breaks I will not be buying a third....

Summary: Targus remote presenter= worst product ever
Comment: I ordered this from Amazon. It didn't work at all- figured I got a defective one and returned it for a replacement. The second one was so cheaply made ($26)that the battery cover wouldn't even open. Once I finally was able to open it, it wouldn't slide closed. This one seemed like it was loading software to my PC but again, nothing happened. I am terribly disappointed as I have had these before, they never last more than a year but this was and continues to be a total waste of my time. I had to return the second one and still don't have a wireless presenter!

Summary: Cost-effective tool for the modern office
Comment: The Targus Wireless Presenter comes with a carrying pouch, USB transceiver device, the remote control, a single AAA battery, and some instructions. The carrying pouch felt extremely cheap and was made of an inexpensive fabric material with a drawstring enclosure. The USB transceiver was automatically detected in XP SP-2 environments within 10-15 seconds. It will be identified as a 2.4 GHz RF keyboard and functions fine in over 4 different PCs and different versions of Microsoft PowerPoint.

The remote control accepts a single AAA battery, and as always I use rechargeable NiMh batteries since they offer more capacity, longer life, and the ability to be recharged thousands of times. The only drawback is they have a high self-discharge rate, resulting in the need for a recharge every 2-3 months even if you don't use it.

The remote control has 6 controls. The ON/OFF switch is a slide switch on the side that is concealed to prevent accidental shutoffs. There are buttons to go to the next or previous slide, to switch between applications, to darken the slide (go to a black slide), and one for the laser pointer. I verified the remote control functions within 33 feet but it starts to have diminished control at the farther ranges. I am not familiar with any presentation environment where you are 33 feet away from the presentation PC so this is a non-issue. The laser pointer isn't terribly bright and is a very small dot. I have my doubts about its effectiveness in a presentation environment.

Pros: It worked properly out of the box on several different computers all running XP SP-2 and different versions of Microsoft PowerPoint. Can use rechargeable NiMH batteries to reduce battery costs. It is small enough to throw in a laptop case or backpack but large enough that you can use it comfortably.

Cons: The carrying pouch is very flimsy and cheap. The laser pointer is rather weak but at least you have the option of using it.

Overall: Very affordable tool for use at the office or school and gets the job done.
