Customer Rating: Summary: Apex Roman Chair Comment: I ordered the Apex Roman Chair because it looks the most like a piece of equipment I used to use regularly at a gym. Roman Chairs are a great way to stretch out/relax your spine and strengthen the back muscles, plus you can really work your glutes and, to a lesser extent, your abs.
The Apex Roman/Hyperextension Bench arrived in a banged up box with tears. The blister pack for all the small bits had disintigrated somewhere during its long journey from China(?), thus allowing assorted metal bolts and washers to mingle freely with everything else. I'm somewhat amazed that none of the little parts managed to escape the damaged box. Not surprisingly, one of the handle arms was dented and the paint had been scraped off that place. After locating all the parts, assembly proceeded in a straightforward manner (according to my boyfriend).
The Apex Roman Chair is reasonably sturdy (but not extremely so) and functions as expected. I like the main pad for its smooth shape-- benchs with split pads, like the Roman Chair at my current gym, tend to cause me unreasonable groin pain by compressing my femoral arteries. =:o The ankle pads that came with the Apex Chair could be better-- they're simple cheesy foam and one arrived all conmpressed & misshapen from being at the bottom of the box under very heavy parts. I'm not sure these pads will last long at all.
I'm giving this product three stars-- I took a couple stars off for packing damage, parts spew and poor foam ankle pads. Overall this chair is a decent value for the price and I do intend to keep mine because it suits my budget. If I can figure out a way to improve or replace the ankle pads, I will. Is this a professional, high quality piece of top-notch gym equipment? Unfortunately, no.
Customer Rating: Summary: Apex Roman chaif Comment: Since I have a limited space & budget, I was trying to find something to work my lower back area. This piece of equipment is just right. It was pretty easy to assemble [just a little help tightening the screws from my boyfriend] & fairly light weight, yet sturdy....for me. I'm very petite, so just about anything holds me. If you weigh 250lbs. & are also lifting weights, I could see how you'd need to stabilize it with some bolts or something, although the structure easily holds my boyfriend who's twice as big as me. With these qualifiers, I'd recommend it as a good item for home use.
Customer Rating: Summary: Apex Extension Bench Comment: Great piece of equipment to have to help tone the stomach area. Doesn't take up much room at all.
Customer Rating: Summary: Excellent product Comment: Regardless of price, the Apex Roman/Hyperextension Bench is an excellent product. Made from high grade materials that give it a commercial gym feel. Went together easily with adequate instructions and all parts were present. No need to spend more on a product of this type. Highly recommended
Customer Rating: Summary: Great For Your Back Comment: I bought this product because a friend recommended it to me. We both were having lower back pain problems. I've been using it now for about 4 weeks, and it works great. At first it looks like there's not much to it or something's missing. The workout is almost exclusively for your lower back. My friend bought one after having problems with a sciatic nerve. I was worried I was going to have the same issues. I use it twice daily. I do 15 reps in the morning before work and 15 more before going to bed. A total of about 10 minutes. It's great.
