Every winter before the rain I treat all of my cowboy boots, hiking boots, leather mules and heels to water proof them and to protect them from staining. It is so easy to use and isn't messy, just read the directions and have good ventilation. I can buy this product around the corner from my house but they charge twice as much for it. I've used this product for years and I highly recommend it.
