Customer Rating: Summary: Works if close Comment: Works if within straight line of vision between sender and receiver. I've had it within 25 feet and still would only sometimes work. It's a great idea - if it would work consistently. I have 900mhtz phones plus wireless Internet so maybe one of those conflict.
Customer Rating: Summary: Got a defective unit, but return was handled great Comment: After setting it up, it worked except that the volume on the recevier, even when set to high, could barely be heard. Worked through Lamson Tech Support and they determined it was defective and that I should return to where I bought it. When I contacted DS Home Solutions, they handled the return quick and easy.
If I had received a working unit, it would have been a great solution for us.
Customer Rating: Summary: Ideal for Big Home Comment: We could not hear our doorbell when we are upstairs particularly in the back of the house. This doorbell extender does exactly as advertised. We were able to extend our doorbell from the downstairs hallway to the upstairs bedroom approx 50 feet. The kids really like to alternate tones. Very easy to install - connect 2 wires. Works great.
Customer Rating: Summary: great, simple item Comment: This thing is great. We could never hear our doorbell when we were in the basement watching TV, and really didn't want to replace the old one. It only took a few minutes to screw this into the existing doorbell and plug in the chime downstairs, and the problem was solved. I purchased a second chime to go upstairs.
I was able to tape the small unit to the outside of the old chime in a way that is not too obtrusive, and makes it possible to change the chime without removing anything. It is annoying that they used a jumper to set the chime -- you will need to use tweezers to change it -- and the default chime is a bit annoying, but that is only a minor complaint.
Customer Rating: Summary: Cheap, quick, reliable solution. Comment: We just moved, and our new home is an older house that's built pretty solid. The doorbell is on the main floor, and if we were in the basement or upstairs, we couldn't hear the doorbell unless the house was completely silent.
So I bought one of the doorbell extenders, with one receiver upstairs in my office, and a second receiver (purchased separately) in the basement by the TV. It works great. It took two minutes to install, and the receivers respond immediately upon doorbell press.
The first receiver is about 20ft away, through a floor and a wall.
The second receiver is about 35ft away, through a floor and two walls.
I haven't had any interference problems with other wireless devices in the house.
