Spotlight customer reviews:

Customer Rating: Summary: Cinematic insight without sound bites Comment: If you are reading this review for the first time prepare to shell out for the back Issues also. Some times we go through life oblivious of the treasures around us. This magazine is one of those treasures.
I enjoy film magazines because they give some insight or view missed in just watching the film. However most of these magazines are just rehashed information and recycled pictures. Worst of all they usually are in sound bite form. You read, hear or see five people on at a time (over and over and over again) every time there is a question it is asked five times.
This book is really a review of a them that runs through cinema. Each paper submitted is by a person familiar with the industry. The submitters are not sensor by the editors. One person can put forth an idea or opinion or view and finish the complete thought without getting mixed up with others ideas or opinions or views.
Even though this is printed on semi-gloss paper and the pictures is quality they are secondary as the articles could stand alone.
This is issued three times a year. I do not know how they can come up with enough original information in such a short period of time. Some of the Back issues themes are:
Women in contemporary Hollywood
Rethinking Authorship
Framing the family
Murder in America
Chinese films
Sex, Terror, Madness, Canada
Questions of Value
