Episodes in this thorough collection may not come from Casper's golden years (the '60s), but from the late '70s, when the series was initially revived. Episodes include Casper Saves Halloween, which features a favorite Halloween concept for the Friendly Ghost--he can go out among the humans who might believe he's just in costume. There's a group of lonely orphans, kindly rich people, and Casper's nasty ghost associates to contend with, but friendship, loyalty, and affection win out in the end. Other episodes (several of which take place in outer space) include "Love at First Fright," "The Impossible Scream," "Something's Fishy," "Space Circus," "Prehistoric Hi-Jinx," and "Count Fatula." These episodes are ideal for parents hosting a kiddy party for Halloween or for those who prefer to entertain inside rather than let their little goblins out. They're not too scary, they offer up a none-too-subtle message, and the adults in the home may harbor fond memories of their own childhood 'toons via Casper. The 1995 live-action version (and its sequel) reintroduced audiences to Casper, so it's likely that there'll be interest in this collection not only for Halloween--maybe for spooky sleepovers as well? Ages 6 and older. --N.F. Mendoza

Customer Rating: Summary: Violence free and safe for my fraidy cats little eyes Comment: This is a mildly spooky tape of that sweet, helpful little ghost we all know and love. It was my 3 year olds first introduction to Halloween on screen. I am so happy I picked this. He is a little fraidy cat who did not get past the first fifteen minutes of Monsters Inc but was able to watch this entire video. This is not one of those 30 minute tapes. It is over 90 minutes long. The first cartoon is all about halloween and trick or treating the last is about a vampire. All are fun and precious! I just wish they had this on DVD
