Customer Rating: Summary: nice french press Comment: Nice to have a French press that keeps the coffee hot! Not blazing hot, but better than anything else we have tried.
We bought it for camping, but are using it every day at home.
Made well, pours nicely, we love it!
Customer Rating: Summary: Works great. Easy to use. Could be better insulated. Comment: This is my first non glass French Press. I got tired of cleaning up coffee grounds which is something that I'm convinced if there is a hell they must make you clean up hot, wet coffee grounds every day. My last glass French Press actually exploded with scalding coffee and grounds going everywhere. I will NEVER use a glass press ever again. I like this press. It makes a good amount of coffee, it's easy to clean and use. I haven't put it in the dishwasher, and I don't remember if it said not to or not, but it's easy to hand clean. I like the look with the black plastic handle. I does keep the coffee warmer longer than a glass press, but "warm" is definitely the word to use. The temp doesn't drop to unacceptable for me until after around an hour. So it's good for up to an hour's worth of no hassle coffee drinking for me... which works just fine.
Customer Rating: Summary: Not pretty, but not breakable. Comment: I was just about to buy the Bodum Chambord French Press when I came to my senses. How many times did I have to read about broken glass before I woke up? Yes, the Bodum is good looking. Yes, the Thermos Nissan SS is ugly. But the Bodum is breakable glass and the Nissan is stainless steel. Did I really want to buy replacement beakers every two weeks? I went with the stainless steel and I'm very happy. It's easy to use and makes a fine cup of coffee. The plunger operates smoothly and few grounds escape. And every time something slips from my hand in the sink I know I made the right choice.
Customer Rating: Summary: Fairly good Comment: It is true that the filter is kind of cheap and that you have to make sure that you use some type of mesh filter when pouring your coffee in to your cup to prevent granules from getting in there. I drink my coffee pretty much right away so I haven't tested it to see how long it will keep the coffee warm. Overall, it works pretty much the same as any other french press...I mostly use it to steep tea. I saw something I thought was an even better idea (at the Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf) in the retail section. It was a glass Bodum French Press with rubber barriers on the outside of the press. I just like the idea of glass, I think my coffee kind of tasted a little different in the stainless steel...it makes me wonder if the inside was lined with any chemical? Hmmm...
Customer Rating: Summary: Just what i wanted Comment: works great keeps coffee hot long enough for me let stand for an hour and it was still hot. filter works ok but will un screw if you mess with it left coffee in it for a few days to season the stainless and get rid of the metallic flavor from the first pot
