Customer Rating: Summary: good, but could have been better. Comment: A great sampler of the Tridentine mass, but does not carry the sense of sanctity that is its attribute. Should have had more gregorian chants and saced polyphony.....THAT I would call a great tridentine mass!
Customer Rating: Summary: Very Traditional Comment: This is great for any fan of the Catholic Latin high mass. It has the entire mass on it, making it a great devotional. I bought it for myself, my Latin instructor, my Godparents and my former parish priest. Good for traditional Catholics.
Customer Rating: Summary: One of my favorites. Comment: This mass is the marriage service as done for centuries before Vatican II.
I used to read to my grand mother a book that was in Spanish and Latin. She never complained about the mass in the vernacular as now; but I always wondered how the Latin mass was.
I was looking for a CD like this for a long time, and am glad I found it. I like the quality of all the songs, the sung epistle and gospel, the beautiful preface.
I also bought the 1962 roman missal also here from amazon, and thus can follow everything from the mass with the translation in English.
I loved it, and I do wish for the traditional mass to return. I believe that along all other rites of the Catholic Church (The current one, The Bizantine, the Maronite, the Greek orthodox, The benedictine, etc.) it belongs to the world's heritage.
Customer Rating: Summary: Great Training Aid (and Enjoyable to boot!) Comment: Now that there is a Tridentine mass being offered in Knoxville, this CD becomes more valuable than ever. Not only does listening to the Mass provide a serene inspiration, but it serves as instruction to us Post-Vatican II catholics who are only familiar with the Novus Ordo liturgy. Et cum spiritu tuo!
I am much more comfortable in partipating in the prayer of the mass in latin after repeated listening to this CD. As a bonus, the Ave Maria is wonderful, as is the chanted Pater Noster.
Incidentally, the CD Abba Pater features an excellent track featuring the late John Paul II chanting the same Pater Noster, followed by a male choir praying it again, wonderfully orchestrated. I highly recommend this CD as well.
Customer Rating: Summary: Latin High Mass Comment: Nice music but I never heard these sung in church when I was a kid.
