Customer Rating: Summary: Interesting early David Foster CD Comment: While not as good as Rechordings (1991) it does have some good instrumental selections and features Lee Ritenour (whom Foster did a lot of work with throught the 70s and 80s) and Toto's David Paich among others.
Customer Rating: Summary: What a find! Comment: Music as is should be: Uplifting, soaring, inspiring, brilliant. I've long been a fan of David Foster as a songwriter and producer. With this album he has proven that he is a great composer (not to mention pianist).
I echo the sentiments of another reviewer: More music like this, please.
Customer Rating: Summary: Forest goes classic Comment: Fine arrangements - especially Winter Games with rythmic power, and Water Fountain with its poetic changes in melody.
Customer Rating: Summary: Gorgeous. Comment: As expected this guy doesn't dissapoint. Very cohesive this set. Great compositions, eternal melodies, and sublime arrangements.Working with his old stalwart orchestrator; Jeremy Lubbock this is a FANTASTIC album. I'd be very interested to hear a Jeremy Lubbock CD. Purchasing this CD is a "No Brainer".
Customer Rating: Summary: Thrilling! Comment: I have wanted to own this album for YEARS and I'm so glad I finally remembered to go through with it. Brilliantly written and performed. I chased the album down on purpose because I couldn't rest until I had a recording of Water Fountain. Somehow I have managed never to see The Secret of My Success, but nevertheless, I have been in love with that song ever since 1988. After Brian Boitano won his Olympic gold medal, (and probably after he went to Disneyland!), he taped a wonderful hour special. I think that there were other skaters on most of the numbers, but the most memorable was the program where they helecoptered Brian and a crew up to a virgin frozen mountain lake. No commentary by Jim MacKay!!!! He essentially flew over the spectatular surface. Even though Water Fountan was a program skated outside, where getting the music set up appropriately so that he could stay with the music, he expressed the song PERFECTLY, with many of his famous spread eagles. (Obviously, the music was overdubbed onto the finished product.)
Anyway, I'm just grateful that I now have this music. My next project is finding the lyrics for Winter Games. I know that I have over 15 hours of tapes from the 88 Olympics, so if necessary, I can find one of the neat Coca Cola sessions with the combined choir of notable musicians and athletes, and then transcribe the words. Mr. Foster, you are the epitomy of modern piano composition, as far as I am concerned.
