Their remake of "Killing Me Softly" was the hit, but that's only the beginning of the story. A hip-hop trio whose talents reach out into the world of the pop song (Wyclef Jean is a fine guitar player, and Lauryn Hill's a heck of a singer), the Fugees are also all distinctive, inventive rappers--you find yourself waiting for each of them to take the next verse in turn. The beats are the familiar crossed-armed boom-bip, but the group's understated grooves and subtle effects lie low in the mix. Aside from two kicky covers of classics (the other is Marley's "No Woman, No Cry"), The Score's focus is on the stars' rhyming with the free-form grace of performance poets and showing that they've thought deeply about the issues they raise. --Douglas Wolk

Customer Rating: Summary: Wish I could give this more than 5 stars Comment: This is one of those albums that hit me the first time I listened to it, it hit me hard. The unique and original lyrical styles, and production makes for an other worldly specie of Hip Hop. Very seldom do we get a piece of music like this. Music that's so honest, real, and rare. Lauryn's beatiful voice with dominant lyrics (sorry Wyclef fans, but she gets the gold for lyricism), Wyclefs lively charismatic delivery, and Pras's (very underrated) laid back smooth style. The three combined are almost too much for me.
I couldn't help but read the negative reviews that people left for The Score. Don't listen to them, those are people that haven't EXPERIENCED this wonderful piece of music. This is an album I reccomend to ANY music fan. If you haven't already given it a shot, listen to it all the way through. Before you know it, you'll be sucked in like the rest of us Fugee heads. PEACE!
Customer Rating: Summary: classic Comment: i've enjoyed this cd since it came out and i dust it off every now and then when i want to hear real hip-hop lyrics, not this stupid stuff they play now that people only like for the beats. i like every track on this cd and it will continue to be one of my favorites.
Customer Rating: Summary: FUGEES Comment: You know... if you like the Fugees, this is their best albumn. I'm not even sure if they have any other albumns.
LA-LA-LA!!!
Customer Rating: Summary: Great classic. Comment: This is a great classic album that made the Fugees popular during that time. It also brought some shine onto the very talented and gifted Lauren Hill. This was one of my favorite rap CDs during the late 90s.
Customer Rating: Summary: The Score Comment: New Jersey has produced some fantastic musicians. after all we are the second wealthiest state in this country, and yet we have some of the poorest cities. When the Fugees produced this album they gave a voice to the city of Newark., and in the process created a masterpiece. Great Production by Pras. bits of Clefs guitar and Hills vocals make for a nice flow. Hopefully Hill can overcome her Bi-Polar disorder and reunite.
