Editorial Reviews:

Spiders, bugs, moths, butterflies, beetles, bees, flies, dragonflies, grasshoppers, and many other insects are detailed in more than 700 full-color photographs visually arranged by shape and color. Descriptive text includes measurements, diagnostic details, and information on habitat, range, feeding habits, sounds or songs, flight period, web construction, life cycle, behaviors, folklore, and environmental impact. An illustrated key to the insect orders and detailed drawings of the parts of insects, spiders, and butterflies supplement this extensive coverage.

Summary: Great reference book!
Comment: Being somewhat of a nerd, I've seen many insects and spiders in my back yard (or on business windows, or in the middle of the woods) whose classification eluded me. Many times, I'd take a digital picture of it and then search internet dichotomy trees for the exact bug I'd just seen. This field guide has made this process much less painful, and I haven't found a single insect or spider yet that hasn't been in the book. If you like bugs--or don't like them, and want to make sure a particularly frightening specimen isn't dangerous--this Field Guide is definitely worth the small investment.

Summary: These things are addictive.
Comment: I love these field guides! The photographs are fantastic, and are easy to navigate for quick identification. We enjoy looking at these books even when we aren't out scouting for new things to identify. However, this one should not have the "Spider" bit in the title. Woefully lacking content when wanting to identify even the most common of spiders.

Summary: National Audobon Society Field Guide to North American Insects and Spiders
Comment: Nice compact book, great pictures to easily identify insects, would recommend to anyone looking to identify any insect a person would come into contact with on an everyday basis.

Summary: Great Resource
Comment: Once you get used to the format of the Audubon Field Guides, they are very easy to use. Like all the Audubon series, this guide is compact, well-written, precise, comprehensive, informative, brilliant color plates, tough outer cover - what's not to like? Highly recommended.

Summary: Good Book!
Comment: I like this book but the only thing I do not like is that the pictures are in the front of the book and the information on the insect is in the back of the book. I would rather have the picture and information about the insect on one page.
