- Anisette
- a cordial flavored with aniseed and distinguished by its licorice taste.
- Aperitif
- A before-dinner drink; a drink to arouse the appetite before a meal.
- Aperitif

- Apple Brandy

- A grape brandy grown and shipped exclusively from the Armagnac district in the southwestern part of France, near the Pyrenees Mountains. Although it is known as one of the greatest brandies, the soil of the district, the production process, and the fact that most brands are unblended make it a brandy distinctive of Cognac.
- Artificial Color
- Mostly all alcoholic beverages have some color, either naturally or naturally acquired. With some liquors, the addition of small amounts of sherry, prune juice or caramel are used in blending, or to deepen (darken) the color of the product.
- Asti Spumante
- Medium sweet sparkling wine from the Muscat grape produced in the Piedmont region of northern Italy.
- Auslese
- One of the six Pradikat levels for German wine. Usually medium sweet but can be dry when labeled Trocken.
